Heritage in Derby

When visiting Derby’s Cathedral Quarter, you can’t help but be impressed by the spectacular historical architecture from the Guild Hall in Market Place to the Victorian, Georgian and Tudor buildings in Iron Gate, Sadler Gate and The Strand.

Dominating the skyline is Derby Cathedral - at 212 ft, the 16th century tower is believed to be the second tallest in England and houses the oldest ring of ten bells in the world. The area also boasts one of Derby’s oldest surviving pubs, Ye Olde Dolphin Inne. First licensed in 1530, this spectacular timber-framed building was frequented by highwayman, Dick Turpin, and is a favourite ‘haunt’ for a number of Derby’s ghosts!
